CPU makes a strange noise? Read this & follow steps to solve it!

If the fan on the central processing unit (CPU) makes a lot of noise, there are things you can do to try to quiet it down a bit. While some noise may be normal and unavoidable, it should only be a low hum as the fan turns without anything disrupting it. A 'tick' sound or a 'clutter' sound or 'vibrating' sound could be made with a moving hardware part of the computer such as the CPU FAN.

An excessively noisy fan can be caused by dust, a loose fan, obstructions or a fan that is dying.

Note these steps to help fix this

Instructions:

    • 1
Using a small screwdriver, remove the screws holding on the CPU cover from the chasis. Depending on the computer's CPU, there will be four to six screws along the outside of the case. Remove the cover and clean all dust from the fan and surrounding area.
    • 2
Run the computer while the chasis is open & assure that the fan spins properly without any obstructions. If there are any wires that potentially get in the way, move them to the side and observe.
    • 3
Tighten the screws that hold down the fan. If these are loose, the fan could be moving and making noise. (This happens generally)
    • 4
Replace the fan. If it is determined that there's no outlying problem, the fan is bad and needs to be replaced.
How this happens? What should I do now?

The CPU Fan problem can be caused by something as normal as jerking the CPU. People generally do this when their devices stop working. Jerking a CPU may cause the CPU Fan to dislodge. Over some time, the dislodged CPU Fan can become permanently damaged. So, it is better to replace your CPU fan if all the steps given above fails. CPU Fan is comparatively an inexpensive device. But if you neglect it's problems for too long, it can cause heating and damage to the internal parts of the computer which will be VERY expensive to repair or replace.
